American Theatre and Drama Society Graduate Student Research Award

Deadline: April 20, 2013

Purpose: To provide support for graduate student research in the field of United States theatre and drama (recognizing that notions of America and the US encompass migrations of peoples and cultures that overlap and influence one another). Funds may be requested to support travel related to archival or ethnographic research.

Eligibility: Any student currently enrolled in a graduate program in theatre/performance studies is eligible, as well as those in ancillary programs. Students need not be members of ATDS to apply. Please note that the applicant must still be in graduate school during the proposed time of use for the award.

Award: $400.00 + a one year membership to ATDS

Application Process: Please submit the following materials via email to Dr. Valerie Joyce at valerie.joyce@villanova.edu by April 20, 2013.

1. A one-page proposal (double-spaced, 12 pt. font) detailing your Research Project (archival or ethnographic research), providing an explanation of your research goals, the relationship of the research to any larger projects (such as a dissertation or article in-progress), and the significance of the project to the field of United States theatre and drama.

2. An up-to-date Curriculum Vitae.

3. Two letters of support from faculty mentors familiar with your work. Letters from ATDS members are especially welcome, but not required. Letters should be e-mailed directly to Dr. Valerie Joyce at valerie.joyce@villanova.edu.

Awardee will be notified by May 30, 2013.
