This is our second collection of Shavings, where Wilde/Shaw
links will be discussed. In this
section we shall also try to cover productions of Shaw's pre-1900 plays, and
news of productions of these (with offers of review) will be most welcome. |

Tony Gibbs (Macquarie
University, New South Wales) writes |
|
I am currently working on the second part of a
Bernard Shaw biography project, a book called Bernard Shaw: A Life. The first part, a 450 page reference
work called A Bernard Shaw Chronology, was published by
Palgrave/Macmillan last year. I
briefly discuss Oscar Wilde's
and Shaw's ideas about biography in the introduction to the Chronology. I am very interested in their association,
and the ways in which they defined their Irishness in relation to self. |
