The Whistler
Supplement
to
Nocturne began as section within the main pages THE OSCHOLARS, and then in May 2003 became one of the supplements. With the relaunch of THE OSCHOLARS in October 2006, a separate webpage on THE OSCHOLARS site was created for it. This increased presence was enhanced by the appointment in March 2007 of Elaine Saniter of the University of Glasgow as Associate Editor with responsibility for developing our coverage of Whistler and his circle.
Unlike the other journals in the group, Nocturne will not be issued in monthly numbers, but we will be adding material as it comes to hand. New additions will be announced each month in THE OSCHOLARS with a link to this page. We will pay special attention to the connection between Whistler and Wilde, but we especially welcome news of any article, thesis, conference paper etc on any aspect of Whistler’s art and life, and those of his circle. Nocturne will become a record of the developing Whistler record, in cumulative form rather than monthly feuilletons. Nothing will be erased, but obsolete material, such as expired calls for papers or notices of forthcoming books &c that subsequently came forth, will be removed to a supplement called Nightfall, as an archive. There too will be found the issues of Nocturne from May to October 2003.
