Welcome to the third issue of
Moorings: A Bulletin of All Things George Moore.
As academics will know, this time of year leaves one drowning in marking, exam boards and graduation. As we gradually resurface, we look forward to a summer of research and conferences, including the Third International George Moore conference, to take place in Hull, UK this September. Ann Heilmann and I have been delighted by the interesting, intriguing and varied nature of the abstracts we received for this event. The programme is the single item of this issue. We're very grateful to both the British Academy and the Irish Embassy for their support of the event, and look forward to welcoming as many 'Moore friends' to Hull as possible later this year. Particularly pleasing is the fact that the conference theme, 'George Moore and His Contemporaries', has extended the parameters of the texts and authors under discussion and looks like it will allow for useful interaction between those of us working on Moore and those coming to Moore from research on other authors of the period, such as Ouida, Joyce, Gosse, Ibsen and Caradoc Evans.
The next issue of Moorings will include reports, pictures and comments from the event, and some additional works-in-progress delivered at the conference.
In the meantime, please send any information you would like posted on this site or ideas for future items for inclusion in Moorings to

With best wishes,
MARK LLEWELLYN
